Evaluation
When we showcased our flashes feedback was given and for my flash in pacific they had said "the text can be hard to read at times", "it can be a bit repetitive" ,"nice use of sound effects" ,
Work in progress
this is my 1 st scene work in progress
I started by creating a background
i then added trees to the background
I add the sun then I get the car and tween the wheels
so it looks more like its moving
then add and a button label it to go to the next scene
i then create a circle to use for smoke and then turn it in to a movie clip
and tween it growing and expanding while it is moving
then add 100% alpha to show it fade out and add a stop so it wont continue another
replay
then actionscript in the sound and the code to go to next scene onto the shape you labelled
from feed back i was told to add captions to make the story more clear
repeat for scene 2
Demonstrations
we did a demonstration on the following :
classic and shape tweens
motions tweens
actionscript
sounds
buttons
gradient transform
converting to movie clips
stops
Easter eggs
how these work:
classic and shape tweens
these work by filling in the frames to show the transaction from 1 frame to another
the difference between shape tweens and classic tweens is that classic tweens only work on movie clips
Motion tween
motion tweens are like shape tweens and motion tweens but it has a path that the object will follow and you have to start the tween at the start of the beginning where the others will tween from any point
action script
action script is basicly a way how the programme tells the objects to act
sounds
sounds are put in in two ways either drag the audio from the library and drag to the frames or actionscript the audio to play in that scene
buttons
buttons are click-able items that you can script to be able to do something that can help tell the story
gradient
gradient transform is a way to change the direction of the colour.
convert to movie clip
convert converting to clips is to be able to change shapes to clips so that you can edit it or even put an animation inside the animation
stops
stops are a kind of action that on the actionscript it will stop at that frame instead of going past it
Easter eggs
Easter eggs are objects you need to in order to use them rather than it being given to you so you would make it invisible and visible if hovered over

Storyboard
the way how story boartds work is you draw out the story and explain what is happening when an actions happen
Ideas Generation
this is my mind map to show ideas generation after we did this we had taken ideas from our mind map to produce our story in the form of a 3 act structure

once we had made our three act structure we were asked to present our idea to the group for feedback
from my feedback I had decided to have the world freeze after global warming and show the world as life less until the transaction into act 3
Construction of a Narrative
a 3 act structure uses three acts to show
in act 1 we explain the problem and how it happens(the conflict) you introduce the characters(if any)and move into act 2.
in act 2 this is where all the action takes place; where it seems like all hope is lost then something happens the make the story seem a bit more bright so then act 3 happens and then a resolution occurs when the problem has been solved sometimes telling the view a lesson as such
This is my three act structure
Act 1:the people on earth continue to pollute the rivers oceans and the
air to show this pollution taking place
I will show factories dumping waste into rivers and streams as well as Cars
having fumes produce a thick smog , the earth gets heavily polluted and then
the ozone layer gets destroyed to show this I will show a thin layer of white
getting thinner the white line representing the ozone layer
I show the end of act 1 with the screen going black and then
have the world get bluer and bluer to represent the ice caps melting but then
go whiter and whiter to represent the world freezing.
Act 2 the whole planet has been frozen with blizzards everywhere
there is no sign of life on this planet volcanoes
build up and erupt then the fumes from the magma rise into the atmosphere to
remake the ozone layer
Act 3 and then evolution takes place again

research
here I will research interactive
Megamind the interactive comic
How is the narrative told
it tell the story similar to more classic comic however it gets the reader more interested by including techniques such as zooming in to make the action in the panel more exiting to read. it wont change page until you click the arrow to change page it doesn't include any Easter eggs but it got the reader more involved with pans and zooms around the page (you could zoom and scroll where the action is taking place on panel).
user enjoyment through interactivity
change page when clicked
text captions to show what is being said and sounds e.g BOOOMMM to show and explosion
the was zooms that made i more exciting because when it zoomed it dashed to what happened next
the potential of digital media
from reading Megamind i found that zooms can make a comic more interesting by the way how
it makes you see just that section of what is going on where most people will naturally skim over it so they don't get as involved as the can be which cant be done in traditional comics unless they use a full page for 1 panel
Dracula
how is the narrative told
it tells the story by a scroll system so when you move your mouse the page will move in that direction at the end of each chapter it will give a option the the reader e.g to fight Dracula or run however the results don't really change by this i mean the option you choose will not
effect the outcome of the story massively for example t the beginning you choose weather you go into the house or not and either way you end up in the prison it also tell the story by using text captions and an Easter egg with a pan
user enjoyment through interactivity
to be able to hover to the next panel
to be able to search for Easter eggs
text captions to show what is happening
small animations
the potential of digital media
from reading Dracula I have found that that giving the reader a option will keep interest of the reader it shows each action in small sections as well as animations.to help the reader understand the actions taking place
Class analysis of
“DEAD ON ARRIVAL”
How is narrative
told?
Pictures illustrate the story
Page turning device to further the story
speech bubbles tell the majority of the story
text captions written in the 1st person
music choice eg. Opening music was suspenseful, music pace
picked up as story unfolded, on the
hangover scene the music “jangly”
“easter egg” clickable items gave information to move the
narrative forward for example coffee cup, the phone, the office files.
Zooms on important items, e.g. the insurance documents to
draw the viewer’s attention
“Spiked” drink
The variety of devices to tell the story and the amount of
interactivity held the viewer’s attention well and made the storyline very
clear. There wasn't much animation as such, but the “shaking” animation on the
hangover scene helped to contribute to the atmosphere.
User enjoyment
through interactivity:
Searching for and finding clickable items
These items popped up which drew attention
A character/text captioning gave hints to what was clickable
The interactive pans were not very exciting.
The potential of
digital media:
All the above points illustrating the use of interactivity,
the use of sound and the fact that the user could guess who the murderer was
show what potential digital media has to enhance user enjoyment. These features
could not be included in a traditional comic book.
we did this as a class to understand how to research and analyse different forms of interactive stories and comics
Hotel
How is the narrative told
Hotel is told by animations with Easter eggs and buttons to be able to find out what happens next
it had also used text captions to indicate what is happening
it uses music to distinguish the sort of atmosphere
the sounds used to match what Easter egg need to be found for example a phone rings you have to locate the phone to continue
the choice in music was effective because it was all some thing that you would here in a actual hotel
besides sounds to locate items it has a small ring around what you need to find
it was mainly animation i couldn't really tell what other devices there was to tell the story

User enjoyment through interactivity:
searching for click able items
text captions to show what is happening or going on
there was transactions between scenes.
the potential of digital media
from this i have found out that interactive comics sometimes can be more effective by the way that the actions you do may change the overall ending that a printed comic cant
